The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), Emerald Coast Post, will be offering four year - $2,000/year and several $1,500 scholarships to qualifying students in engineering or architectural programs, or high school seniors who intend to study engineering or architecture.

The scholarships are open to anyone who lives in, or whose parents live in, Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, or Walton counties.  Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Provide verification of enrollment in an accredited undergraduate school of engineering or architecture as a full-time student.  High school seniors shall certify that they intend to study engineering or architecture.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Submit a completed application package, which includes the following:
    • Completed application form, including an essay on your career goals and why you are the best applicant for this scholarship (500 words or less).
    • Copy of latest transcript showing GPA (minimum 3.0 on a scale of 4.0).
    • Two Letters of Recommendation (one from math or science faculty member, and an additional recommendation from employer, other faculty member or adviser).

Applications will be judged on the following criteria (in order of importance):

  • Academic performance
  • Recommendations
  • Extracurricular and community activities
  • Essay

NOTE:  Preference will be given to applicants who are children of Emerald Coast Post members OR children of employees of sustaining member firms.  Sponsor (Emerald Coast Post Member) information should be provided on application.
